Graduation: Senior Portraits in the Snow by Sacramento Photographer

Posted on: March 3rd, 2016

A beautiful spot in the snow for some graduation portraits this February. Despite the snow on the ground, it was sunny and warm!

Hair by @MyHairDreams and Makeup by Danielle Parker (instagram @dahlingdani).

Here are a few favorites from the shoot…

Mod Studio Shoot by Sacramento Portrait Photographer

Posted on: August 9th, 2014

Excited to be bringing on a new shooting space for Amy Shuman Photography! We now have a home studio set up and this shoot was a great kick off to the revamped space. These pastel looks and mod Chevron striped backdrop made for a fun summer shoot, and the looks were made complete by the talented team at All Dolled Up Hair and Makeup!

Amy Shuman Photography in Spring/Fall Sacramento Bride and Groom Magazine

Posted on: June 30th, 2014

Big news for the next issue of Sacramento Bride and Groom magazine! In my second issue with them, I won the spot as the Fall cover image (with some help from the gorgeous Jaclyn and Mike and their amazing wedding)! This cover is not available in stores until September, but I received an advanced set of copies for my brides. It’s always an honor to be featured in this publication, and special congrats to all the couples who are in this issue. I have flipped through and photographed just the Amy Shuman Photography images for those of you who aren’t local and won’t get this print version.

Cheers to all the couple and all the artists who make these special days and photo shoots possible!

Senior Photographer, Sacramento, Woodland, Davis, CA

Posted on: August 10th, 2013

Senior portraits are such a fun experience and a great time to dress up and celebrate your graduation. For this shoot we had two class of 2013 and one class of 2014 senior join us. First the girls got professional makeup done by the artist team from Dolce Vita beauty: Veronica Marshall and Mariela Medina. Then they were styled with wardrobe by Jesse and Shania Larrosa. For the finishing touches, they are wearing jewelry from Stella&dot, provided by independent consultant, Kim Campinelli, and handmade flower accessories from Celia Rose Inc.

The look and feel of this shoot was really magical thanks to the amazing staff out at the Historic Oakdale Ranch in Esparto, CA. Their beautiful venue is a new hot spot wedding venue in Yolo County! Brides looking for an outdoor location should check it out!

Special thanks also goes out to my assistant on this shoot, Kelli Stoffregen!

1950s themed photo shoot by Sacramento Portrait Photographer, Woodland CA

Posted on: June 29th, 2013

My good friend (and first photography teacher!) Joerg Lehmann was going to be in the country for a few days from Australia, so I set to work on styling a shoot for us to collaborate on during his trip. Growing up in Woodland, CA, I had always wanted to check out Reiff’s gas station, and decided that this shoot was a perfect opportunity to discover it. No 1950s shoot is complete without decade appropriate hair and make-up, and that’s where our fabulous team came in! In these shots you will see hair by Amanda Walker (of Salon Jewel) and Dana Lyle (of Maribou Spa Salon), as well as makeup by Veronica Marshall (Dolce Vita Artistry Pro) and Dana Lyle. As luck would have it, I was able to borrow some vintage 50s wardrobe (special thanks to costume designers Jesse Larrosa and Denise Miles!). Jesse styled the shoot on site and helped create the looks you see. Meanwhile, Jason Spyres was on set assisting with set up and coordination, and I am so grateful he was there! Jason also helped by taking some behind the scenes photos for us that evening. Big thanks to all our models for the evening, as well: Kara Stoller, Quentin Carbajal, Danielle DeBow, Kendra Evans, Jordan Waldron, and Nick Hammang.

I must also send a thank you to Jordan for showing up in her grandpa’s classic car! It added so much to our shoot, as you will see below…

Nicole – by Sacramento Portrait Photographer

Posted on: June 12th, 2013

Nicole was my lovely assistant for an engagement shoot at Sand Harbor in Lake Tahoe, NV. After that shoot, we stayed at the lake and took these photos as the sun was setting. Nicole was a real sport about climbing around the rocks to get some cool shots!  Perhaps its because she is a photographer, as well.  :)   Here are some of my favorites.

Barn Portraits, Davis, CA Photography

Posted on: June 20th, 2012

When I learned last week that my friend Joerg Lehmann was going to be in town from Australia for a few days, I felt inspired to put together a last minute shoot while he was here.  Joerg was a big part of some of my very favorite photographs, and every time we work together I both 1) learn something, and 2) get some great images.  The result of the fast-paced plans turned out beautifully, and we had a wonderful night and a wonderful shoot.  I must thank the tremendous team who worked on this, all of whom added something to really make this a great night:  Liz Sheesley for makeup, Kiefer Hackney for general assistance, Michelle and Brianna for modeling, Snookie Schuhwerk for providing the fabulous Stella & dot jewelry, my Nana for letting us use her house to get ready, Jaylene for granting us access to the barn, and of course to Joerg, for taking the time out of his brief visit to be a part of this shoot.  (Note:  extended galleries for this shoot can be found here and here).

Emily Studio Portraits

The beautiful, talented “triple threat,” Emily Kelly.  She is an amazing dancer, singer and actress and also a great model!  We have so much fun working together, and I feel so privileged to have featured her in my first dance shoot as well as the Film Noir shoot.  Watch out world ~ I am sure there are great things ahead for this lady, in college and beyond.
