Fall Family Portraits, Davis, CA

Posted on: November 20th, 2016

October is a great time for family portraits in California. Had the pleasure of photographing this sweet family of 4 during their visit to Davis, CA. We chose the UC Davis arboretum for its woodsy feel. Here are some of my favorites from the shoot.

A fun family photo session in Vacaville, CA. We had to hike through the hills a bit to find the perfect spots, but it was worth the effort. Excited for this family to share these memories for years to come and to capture them in a setting that fits their style.

It was such a treat to work with Veronica Marshall‘s extended family for this portrait session. If you follow the blog, you may recognize Veronica’s name, as she is one of our talented makeup artists. She had been wanting to coordinate a family photo shoot for some time, and this week all the schedules finally came together.  It’s such a special thing to have the family all together in one place, and I look forward to sharing these images with them to have in their family for years to come.  Here are a few highlights from the evening in the park.

Special thanks to Jason Spyres for assistance at this shoot.  :)

Behind the Scenes at the Makeover Event

Posted on: February 14th, 2013

The makeover event on Sunday was a treat to be a part of!  James Glica-Hernandez of Sacramento Vocal Music was a wonderful and gracious host.  The event took place at his studio in Woodland, CA.  Here is a shot of all of the crew behind the scenes:

We spent the day chatting, snacking, and creating some beautiful art.  The team of makeup and hairstylists did a fantastic job! Here they are at work:

Amanda Walker, from the Salon Jewel, working on Angie’s hairstyle

Then we took a break to give James a makeover!

Thank you to everyone who participated in the event!  I look forward to more collaborations in the future!

Miller Family Portraits in Sacramento CA

Posted on: June 10th, 2012

I had the pleasure of working with the Miller’s in Sacramento, CA last month to shoot some family portraits in the park.  They are such a beautiful family, and you can tell from the way they interact how close they are and how supportive of each other.   I met them through their daughter, Emily, who was in my play 13 at the Woodland Opera House.  She is immensely talented and very hard working.  Her little sister, Rachel, looks to have the same great spirit and energy about her and I am excited to see them both go on to do many amazing things.  Congrats to parents Sonia and David for their beautiful family!

Too cute, right?  I had a great time shooting this extended family session in Woodland, CA this past weekend!  It had been 4 years since I had seen my friend Michelle (aside from facebook updates, which are nowhere near as good as real in-person updates).  I knew it was 4 years because that’s how old the little guy above is, and I had last seen him when he was just a couple of months old.  Michelle is genuine, compassionate, and very witty and she and her family are a joy to be around.  You can tell they all love spending time together, and love is abundant in this group.   I want to thank them for letting me spend the afternoon capturing these moments.
And one last thing:  I’d like to thank all the kids in this shoot for being so much fun!  They loved the camera and my camera loved them!

I met Cristina back in high school where we did plays together.  She has always been such a sweet person with a warm heart.  Years later I met her older brother, Erik, through the Woodland Opera House and we’ve been friends ever since.  There is something really special about them, and I think part of it is their love of family.
This was my first time getting to meet the rest of Cristina’s family, and they are such a fun group!  I was happy to get to spend the afternoon with them at the UC Davis Arboretum capturing these special family moments.
