Ashley + Sam: Hawaii engagement

Posted on: October 19th, 2013

Ashley has been my friend for over 20 years. Just over a year ago she moved from California to Hawaii, and while there met an amazing guy: Sam! I found myself on Oahu to shoot a wedding the week of Ashley’s birthday, and so had planned to see her. Well, not only was I able to attend her birthday party, but Sam also PROPOSED to her just a few days before my trip!

To add even more to the story, Ashley and Sam are moving back to the states, and so this was also their last week living on the island. Of course, we decided we really needed to do some engagement photos while we were all in Hawaii. Here are some of my favorites.

Wishing all the very best to Ashley and Sam!!

Sacramento Engagement Portraits: Trevor and Julia

Posted on: June 9th, 2013

Trevor and Julia are just one month away from their wedding day, and we met up for an engagement shoot on the Sacramento River. Julia loves the water, and the three of us found some great spots by hiking around the trails through the overgrown brush. We even encountered a family of skunks (but luckily, we kept our distance). Here are some highlights from the session.

Lake Tahoe Engagement by Sacramento Portrait Photographer: Naresh and Nalini

Posted on: June 4th, 2013

Naresh and Nalini picked the perfect day for their engagement shoot: the skies were clear and the weather was warm with a slight breeze. The shoreline of Sand Harbor State Park in beautiful Lake Tahoe was full of people enjoying their Sunday afternoon, but we managed to find locations just for these two. Here are some of my favorites from the shoot. I am looking forward to shooting their wedding this August!

Special thanks to Nicole Dove for her assistance on this shoot.

Vanessa and Matt Engagement – Davis, CA

Posted on: March 29th, 2013

Vanessa and Matt are such a sweet couple. We had so much fun walking around the UC Davis Arboretum with all the blooming Spring plants. It’s incredible to see them together and how perfect they are for one another. I am honored to be able to shoot their wedding in July.

Here are some of my favorite images from the session:

San Francisco Engagement Photos, Legion of Honor

Posted on: March 1st, 2013

You may remember last week when I had the privilege of shooting James’ wedding proposal to Leslie in Sacramento, CA.  As a special surprise, James also set up an engagement photo session for this past weekend.  Leslie chose the beautiful Legion of Honor in the Presidio in San Francisco.  Though it was a little bit windy, the skies were clear and it was a gorgeous day in the city.  Here are a few of my favorite shots from their session.

Wedding Proposal Photographer, Sacramento, CA

Posted on: February 16th, 2013

James called me from Europe to say he was planning to propose to his girlfriend, Leslie, on Valentine’s day in Sacramento.  He asked if I would be available to shoot the proposal and I jumped at the chance!  To start the day of surprises, James and I met at Leslie’s house in the afternoon.  He placed this bouquet of flowers on her doorstep with a note.  The note would instruct her to pack a bag for the weekend and be outside at 3:30pm.  She thought that she would be picked up for a night out with local friends, but little did she realize, the surprises were just beginning…blogboard1

Ok, let me explain further what I meant when I said that James called me from Europe…  James is in the military and lives over there.  At least for now.  And the important part of the surprise is that Leslie had no idea he was going to be in the country.  He actually only landed in the U.S. at 11am on Valentine’s Day morning…

Above you can see a shot of the ring James got for her.  Its a heart shaped diamond which, James found out, is hard to find.   Waiting for this special ring to be ready played into the timing of the proposal, but I digress.

After leaving the flowers at Leslie’s house, and having her family come up with a reason to have her come home from work early, James and I made our way to the Hyatt in downtown Sacramento.  The staff there were excited about our plans.

A limousine picked up Leslie from her house and brought her to the Hyatt.  She still thought she was meeting up with some girlfriends for the evening.  Much to her surprise, she saw James when she walked through the door!  After a warm reunion, James brought her up the stairs for the proposal.

Some sort of youth conference was going on at the Hyatt on the 14th, so the hallways were filled with high school kids in suits.  A crowd of them gathered while James was kneeling.  After Leslie accepted, he turned to the high school crowd and yelled “She said yes!!”  They were ecstatic.

Before they headed off to dinner, and then hopped on a plane for a weekend away in SoCal, we walked across the street to get some pictures at the park.  It was such an exciting day.  I was actually jittery from all the love and excitement all around.  It was an honor to get to document this important life event.

Kim and Casey Engagement

Posted on: July 23rd, 2011

Kim and Casey are too cute for words (which is why its a good thing I am a photographer and not a writer).  These two are so obviously in love that it warms your heart.  Kim and Casey love picnics and wine, so we decided to use that as our theme for the photos.  I had so much fun spending the evening with them (and they even packed an extra wine glass for me!).  During their engagement Kim and Casey have to spend a lot of time apart since he lives in Southern California and she is in Sacramento, but when they get to see each other they make the very most of it.  The great news is that Casey is moving up here soon, and, of course, they are ecstatic about the start of their life together.  Thank you for choosing me to be your engagement photographer – it was an absolute pleasure to work with you; you are beautiful people, inside and out!
